SRLA Students of the Month

Nataly

The year 2007 was the first time I entered SRLA.  My goal was to runt he 26.2 marathon here in Los Angeles; my city.  I am a person that makes a lot of goals and I am a person that always enjoys listening to all types of music 24/7.  Since entering SRLA I realized that running a marathon is a really great experience.  In SRLA I try my best on running to never settle for less or give up.  I will continue running in SRLA all the way to high school and even out of high school.  SRLA rocks!

Steven

My name is Steven and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.  My favorite things to do during my free time are play basketball, do my homework, and be a good student.  I focus on these things because I set a good example for the younger students and because I want to go to a good university when I grow up.  SRLA has helped me improve my grades, the way I act, and realize that I can do anything as long as I believe in myself.  Last year I didn’t finish the marathon and I felt ashamed.  Then one of my teachers taught me a great lesson.  She told me, “It’s not about being #1 or finishing the race.  It’s about knowing that you had the courage to run in the race.”  Ms. Sanchez and SRLA have taught me many lessons and I have to learn many more this year as I finish my first marathon!
