This is Miranda Ra'oof, I am an Assistant Principal at West Adams Preparatory High School. I teach all social studies classes, I recently taught United States History to 11th graders at West Adams Pre. H.S. I am Currently teaching psychology, a college course at West Adams for Los Angeles Trade Tech College. I wanted to be a part of SRLA because I wanted to help student experience and achieve success in their lives. Ben Butler was a teacher at Inglewood who asked me to join him way back in 1996 to do a run in Griffith Park, I did and the rest is history. The highlight this season was taking my runners to Kaiser to get their physicals and watching them walk into the doctors office. They really enjoyed the visit to Kaiser. I have never seen so many students so happy to go to the doctor and the team at Kaiser was so helpful and responsive to the students. Other hobbies that I have aside from running are walking, shopping, going to the movies, reading a good book, the beach, volunteering at the Latin American Museum of Art in Long Beach and just resting. My favorite spot to run is at the beach, I love the fresh air. The best vacation that I hvae ever taken was to the Canary Island of Tenerife. But I also love vacationing in Matatlan. It is hard to decide. The advise that I have for anyone who is thinking of training to run the marathon is to see their physician to see if they are o.k. to train. To eat at least three balanced meals a day with water, juice, or milk. To work out and crosstrain and gradually work up to long runs. And to rest for the alloted time for their age. Lastly, to not be too hard on themselves if they do not keep up with others pace. They should pace themselves and run their own race.
